Communication why is it important?

COMMUNICATION is more than just talking. Does what you say to get through to others, and do they really understand what they are trying to tell you? Communication why is it important?

TODAY communication is a multimillion-dollar business. Every book that’s published, every newspaper and magazine that’s regularly printed, every radio and television program that’s broadcast, and every motion picture and stage play that’s produced represents a form of communication. This principle also applies to all the letters written and mailed and all the phone calls made. All our efforts at communication.

For true communication, there must be a transmission of thoughts, ideas, and feelings from one mind to another.

Looking, Talking, and Listening

There are different forms of communication. Some are nonverbal. When two people just look at each other, it is a form of communication. What are different ways through which we can improve our communication?

Be Clear and Concise

Effective communication primarily base on the choice of words, and in this context, simplicity is often superior. The foundation of compelling and persuasive communication, whether in writing or speech, lies in clarity and, whenever feasible, conciseness.  Before engaging in any form of communication, define your goals and your audience.

Thoroughly and clearly outlining what you wish to communicate and the reasons behind it will assist in guaranteeing the inclusion of all essential information. It will also help you eliminate irrelevant details.

Be mindful of nonverbal communication

Our facial expressions, gestures, and body language often convey more than our spoken words. Nonverbal cues can hold anywhere from 65 to 93 percent more influence than verbal communication. Moreover, when there is a conflict between nonverbal signals and spoken words, we are more inclined to believe the nonverbal cues. This underscores the importance of leaders being highly skilled at interpreting nonverbal communication.

Be concise and specific.

Staying on message is key. Use the acronym BRIEF (Background, Reason, Information, End, Follow-up) to help guide your written or visual communication.

Ensure your message is straightforward, clear, concise and succinct to maintain your audience’s comprehension and avoid overloading them with extraneous details.

Get to the Point Efficiently

A big mistake people make is failing to get to the point. It complicates both conversations and interviews for all participants. The skill of efficient communication with minimal words can benefit you in various ways, such as securing a job or broadening your network. The two other important elements for effective communicators are clarity and brevity. Communicate with clarity and directness, avoiding any ambiguity or vagueness in your message. It is essential to speak clearly using short sentences, directly from the point, and making sure that your audience understands every word of it. Steer clear of using technical language or informal terms, as they may not be familiar to those you are conversing with.

Effective communication is not a spontaneous occurrence

but rather the result of a process, skill development,

a conducive environment, strong relationships, and diligent effort.
Conclusion
